How to choose bathroom storage that survives humidity

The bathroom punishes the wrong material: untreated wood swells, cheap metal rusts, and adhesive hooks fall off wet tile. Look for powder-coated steel, plastic or bamboo with a sealed finish, and check the weight rating on anything mounted with suction or adhesive. Small bathrooms win with vertical space: over-the-toilet units, wall shelves and a slim rolling cart in the gap beside the vanity.

Inside the shower, choose a caddy that drains (no flat trays that hold water) and keep bottles to the ones you actually use. Under the sink, a two-tier organizer that fits around the pipes doubles the usable space; measure the pipe position first. Our guide to storage ideas for small bathrooms walks through each zone.
